Reshaping the AI: Meta invested in Scale AI

Mark Zuckerberg invested in Scale AI $14.3 Billion.

It has come to be known that Mark Zuckerberg has invested a huge amount in Scale AI. After the investment, the company has stopped its project in Dallas, terminating the contract staff. It’s a big restructuring this week as the company has made a big decision. The people were involved in developing the writing functionalities of the AI chatbots.

Why was there a big shift in Scale AI after Mark Zuckerberg’s investment?

To get better results and growth, the organisation is thinking of having more specialised employees. Basically, they’re looking for domain-specific people from different backgrounds that include medicine, finance, and robotics, instead of just having people with general experience. Scale AI is shifting towards shaping the company for better outcomes. So they are looking for experts and technical employees.

Scale wound down a small experimental onsite program in Dallas staffed by a contract workforce,” Scale AI spokesperson Natalia Montalvo said.

This reflects an industry shift toward higher skill, expert data work. It only affects a small fraction of our overall workforce and has no impact on customer delivery,” said Montalvo.

Scale AI laid off employees, suggesting other work opportunities

After the employees were laid off by Scale AI, they were offered only four weeks of pay, along with the Medical coverage for October. The data was stated in the email from the company named as HireArt, which is a hiring agency for Scale AI.

The laid-off employees were also offered to work in Outlier, a Scale AI gig platform where multiple projects are available for freelancers. They can use their knowledge to work on the AI training platforms and get paid.

As you navigate this transition, we want to ensure you are aware of alternative opportunities,” the email stated.

Natalia Montalvo also said that the organisation will continue to hire expert-level projects. On the border, to work in Dallas on training projects for better functionalities.

Earlier as well, a similar move was made in September, and now, after the Meta investment in the company, they have taken a big step.

Conclusion

On the Contrary to laying off employees with general knowledge, the company is trying to restructure. The company is looking for better training of the AI chatbot by the experts for better results. As we know, there have been multiple flaws in the AI chatbots, so to improve this, experts are needed. So it becomes important for Scale AI to get reshaped and get on board with the right people with specific domains.
